Clinical Staff

Dr. Carmen Simo 
Dr Simo qualified in Spain (LMS, iGP(Valencia)) and worked there until invited to come to the UK on an International Recruitment Scheme 18 years ago; an already very experienced GP, having worked in multiple surgeries across Liverpool and Knowsley.  She became Senior Partner of the practice in 2016 having held the position of GP assistant first, following the retirement of Dr Brendan Moran on 31/10/17 and Dr Thomas Kinloch on 31/03/2019.  She speaks three languages (Spanish, Italian and English).  She has one son and likes to spend her valuable time with him and her family. 

Dr Manoj Wijesinghe
Dr Wijesinghe joined the practice in October 2019. He entered the NHS in 1999 working in mental health (Bsc), followed by training in Liverpool gaining a Honours degree in medicine (MBChB (Hon) and  further experience in psychiatry prior to completing his General Practice Membership (MRCGP).  Dr Wijesinghe has a Diploma in family planning (DFSRH), and is currently completing a Diploma in Cardiology.  He has further interests in Diabetes and medicine for the old age.   He grew up in Sri Lanka and holds dual Nationalities.  He is bilingual (English, Sinhala), is a Buddhist and loves cricket, water-colour and walking with his wife and two children.

Dr Simo and Dr Wijesinghe are also assisted by Dr Matthew Cullen and Practice Nurse, Julie Daly.

Dr. Matthew Cullen
Dr. Cullen qualified from Hull York Medical School in 2013 (M.B.B.S) and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (M.R.C.G.P.) with an interest in mental health.

Practice Nurse, Julie Daly (RN)
Sr Daly is a nurse prescriber who helps to run the chronic disease management programme and undertakes duties such as well person health checks, immunisations, cervical smear tests, providing contraceptive advice and routine health assessments on elderly patients.

Dr Christine McGovern
Dr McGovern qualified from Liverpool University Medical School in 2005 (MBChB Hons) and has been a GP working in South Liverpool since 2010.  She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and also holds qualifications in family planning and women’s health (DRCOG and DFSRH). She has a particular interest in mental health and palliative care.
